National Internet Day

29TH OCTOBER IS CELEBRATED AS NATIONAL INTERNET DAY

From smartphones to smart TVs, the internet is everywhere. From sharing memes with our best friends to receiving ‘good morning’ messages from annoying relatives. The internet plays a significant role in our lives.

OKAY, SO WHY DO WE CELEBRATE NATIONAL INTERNET DAY?

Not only this, but the internet provides us with instant access to many more things. It makes our lives easy and manageable. Don’t you think that we should appreciate something that has revolutionized our approach towards the world?

Hence, every 29th of October, we celebrate Internet Day or World Internet day, or National Internet Day.

WHY 29th OF OCTOBER?

Let us now understand the history and of Internet Day.

What is Internet Day?

On the 29th of October, 1969, the world sent its very first network message. Just two months after Neil Armstrong achieved first landing on the moon (pretty amazing, right?). This was done by

UCLA Computer Science Professor Charley Kline and his staff. Bill Duval from Stanford University received the message.

The message was the two letters, ‘LO.’ The attempt was to send the word ‘Log in,’ but in the middle, their system crashed (reminds us of all the times we had to reset our router settings)

The first time the world celebrated National Internet Day was on the 29th of October, 2005.
