From smartphones to smart TVs, the internet is everywhere. From sharing memes with our best friends to receiving ‘good morning’ messages from annoying relatives. The internet plays a significant role in our lives.
OKAY, SO WHY DO WE CELEBRATE NATIONAL INTERNET DAY?
Not only this, but the internet provides us with instant access to many more things. It makes our lives easy and manageable. Don’t you think that we should appreciate something that has revolutionized our approach towards the world?
Hence, every 29th of October, we celebrate Internet Day or World Internet day, or National Internet Day.
Let us now understand the history and of Internet Day.
What is Internet Day?
On the 29th of October, 1969, the world sent its very first network message. Just two months after Neil Armstrong achieved first landing on the moon (pretty amazing, right?). This was done by
UCLA Computer Science Professor Charley Kline and his staff. Bill Duval from Stanford University received the message.
The message was the two letters, ‘LO.’ The attempt was to send the word ‘Log in,’ but in the middle, their system crashed (reminds us of all the times we had to reset our router settings)
The first time the world celebrated National Internet Day was on the 29th of October, 2005.
The things that we read above are just a glimpse of the mind-blowing world of the internet. Let us see what more amazing secrets the internet holds.
As we just saw, the internet is nothing but a world of wonder! Why not honor this day to the fullest, right?
A FEW WAYS BY WHICH WE CAN CELEBRATE WORLD INTERNET DAY:
The use of the internet is progressing over time – what better occasion than World Internet Day to learn how we can make the internet experience safer for kids.
Remember, kids; precaution is better than cure!
World Internet Day comes every year, so why indulge in it now?
During these challenging times of COVID-19, the internet’s need is now more than ever. Following the strict lockdown rules, the world has shifted online. Kids attend their schools; parents are doing their work; doctors take consultations all via the Internet.
With such continuous and robust usage also comes the scare of cybersecurity. We have already discussed how the general public can take care of cybersecurity. Let us now see how app and web-developers can do the same.
We hope you enjoyed reading this blog. Happy Internet Day!
